The balance between work and family
When you become a parent, your relationship with work changes. Returning to work after the birth of your baby can evoke mixed feelings: relief, guilt, longing, or a combination of everything at once.
At We Care Academy, we understand that the balance between work and family is different for everyone. There is no perfect solution, but there are ways to make it work for your family.
Common challenges
- guilt about leaving your child
- difficulty letting go and trusting childcare
- fatigue from combining work and care
- pressure to perform in all areas
- less time for yourself and your relationship
- feeling like you're never fully present anywhere
What can help
The transition to working parenthood requires adjustment. Some things that can help:
- discuss expectations with your partner and employer
- be realistic about what you can do
- consciously set aside time for your child, without distractions
- let go of guilt — quality matters more than quantity
- find childcare that feels right to you
- ask for help when it becomes too much
There is no one right way
Some parents work full-time, others part-time, and others choose to stay home temporarily. All these choices are valid. What matters is that it suits your family and that you feel good about it.
At We Care Academy, you will find information and support to find the balance that suits you.
